Alumni Weekend FAQs

What activities are offered during free rotation?

Everything you remember from Camp, and probably some new activities you’ve never tried! Canoeing, high ropes, A+C, kayaking, stand-up paddleboards, climbing wall, hiking, and more! We’re also going to include some ‘activities’ for you to relive your glory days from staff for the more adventurous alumni such as leading a meal, heading out on a garbage run, or helping to close the camp!

Can I go on a cookout or canoe trip?

Yes! Cookouts will be offered Saturday in lieu of staying at camp for lunch. If you would like to go on a canoe trip during the week preceding alumni weekend (August 19-23) please email us to chat options!

Are all the activities mandatory? I just want to relax on the dock.

Nothing is mandatory, although we recommend you show up for dinner.

Can I bring a friend or partner who never went to BB?

Of Course! Alumni weekend is open to all alumni, and friends of alumni aged 25+ (born 1999 or earlier)

Why is there a minimum age?

Alumni under 25 are welcome to come join us at camp during regular camp season as temps. We count alumni as anyone who has “aged out” of staff, therefor 25+.

What’s the drug & alcohol policy?

Alumni Weekend is BYOB. Folks are welcome to bring beverages or cannabis products of their choice to enjoy responsibly. Please note for safety reasons, many activities and rotations will be off limits to anyone who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. BB Camp will provide ice from our ice machine, and have limited fridge space available for anyone who needs to keep things cold.

Where will I be sleeping?

Alumni will be staying in our camper cabins. They have likely been renovated since you were last at camp, however they are still quite rustic. Our bunkbeds are made of plywood, and we have 5” foam mattresses on all the beds. The cabins have 3-4 electrical outlets, and are not air conditioned or heated. Participants should expect to bring a single fitted sheet, pillow case, and a sleeping bag or duvet. If you have a specific request for accommodations feel free to email us!

How are cabins alloted? Can I request cabin mates?

Just like regular camp, we will do our absolute best to make sure folks who want to room together are able to do so. On your alumni interest form which will be sent out in late March, you’ll be able to request up to three cabin mates. We will use cabin requests and age to decide who sleeps where. Alternatively, alumni are welcome to purchase an entire cabin and allot it to whoever they see fit up to a maximum of 12 people.

I don’t think I can sleep in a cabin. Are there other options?

Yes! You can book alternative accommodations in Kenora and be shuttled to the island Friday and Saturday. Rooms are available at the Clarion Lakeside Inn Kenora which is conveniently located across the street from the Kenora Rec Center where we will be doing pickups and drop offs. Anyone staying in Kenora will be picked up early enough to make it to camp in time for breakfast, and will be taken back to Kenora before dark (around 830 PM). Please indicate on your registration form if you will be planning to make alternate accommodations arrangements.

I Have additional dietary/medical/mobility needs. Can I be accomodated?

Most likely! Please shoot us an email so we can discuss how we can best accomodate you at camp!
