Registration FAQs

When are fees due?

We require a deposit at the time of registration to hold your spot, and then all fees paid in full by April 15th unless alternative arrangements are made with the office. If a deposit is not paid within two weeks of registration, your spot may be given to a different camper.

I was put on the waitlist! Does that mean I won’t get a spot?

We use waitlists to determine how many cabins for each age group we need. For example, if the first 16 spots of an age group are taken, campers will be waitlisted until enough additional campers register to warrant opening an additional cabin.

How quickly do spots fill up?

Entirely depends on the age group! Over the last few years, we have seen spots fill faster and faster. Last year 80% of first session spots were full within two weeks of registration launch. We are always happy to turn your non-refundable deposit into a tax-deductible donation should your camper change their mind.

How does the referral discount work?

To qualify for the discount, a new family (someone who has not registered for BB Camp in at least 2 seasons) must indicate the person that referred them in their registration and pay a deposit. This discount is not applicable to Habonim or Taste of BB families, and cannot be combined with any other subsidy or discount. Limit one per family.

Who will my camper’s counsellors be?

We determine counsellor assignments based on prior experience, relevant certifications, and the individual camper needs in each cabin. Depending on the demographics and gender distribution of our staff team, we often have mixed-gender counsellor pairings. All BB Camp staff receive extensive child protection and camper care training, and all cabins are equipped with change rooms. Feel free to book a call should you have any concerns or questions about your camper’s counsellor.

What are all-gender cabins? Will my camper be placed in one?

As perspectives on gender identity continue to shift to creating more inclusive spaces, all-gender cabins are becoming increasingly common at Jewish Summer Camps. Camp Tawonga, one of the largest Jewish Camps in North America has been offering all-gender cabins since 2019, and several Canadian Jewish camps and YMCA camps have followed suit.

Following the lead of these camps, as well as the requests of some of our campers, we are exploring the possibility of offering all-gender cabins in addition to boys and girls cabins this summer. We’ve added a form to our registration where you can indicate whether your camper would be interested and/or prefer to be placed in an all-gender cabin this summer. Depending on interest, we will follow up with those who indicated a preference and potentially open up all-gender cabins for specific age groups. All-gender cabins will be opt-in only. Only campers who explicitly request an all-gender cabin will be placed in one.

All BB Camp Staff are trained on how to create a safe and welcoming space for campers of all genders in EVERY cabin.

Will BB Camp be requiring proof of COVID-19 Vaccines this season?

BB Camp requires all campers to have all MB Health recommended childhood vaccines including a primary series of COVID-19 vaccines. We will not have a requirement for boosters this season.

Will I get a refund if my child is unable to attend because they contract COVID-19 prior to camp?

We encourage families to purchase cancellation insurance from your insurance broker of choice to protect their fees in case of illness or injury preventing their camper from attending. BB Camp will not refund individual camper fees due to COVID-19.

Can I purchase cancellation insurance after I’ve registered my child?

Cancellation insurance must be purchased up to 24 hours prior to your camper’s arrival at camp, so long that your camper does not have COVID-19 at the time of purchase.

Can I pay my child’s camp fees in instalments?

Yes! Please contact the office to set up a monthly or bi-monthly payment plan. All camp fees must be paid in full by April 15th, however we are flexible and encourage families to contact us to set up a payment plan that works best for them. We are happy to waive the April 15th deadline if you set up a payment plan with us.

How can I apply for a subsidy for my child’s camp fees?

Please fill out this subsidy application. Subsidies will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.
