As part of the JCC movement, BB Camp provides opportunity for engagement within a supportive Jewish environment BB Camp strives to teach the values and ethics of Jewish living by example, experience and creative expression. Without adopting to one branch of Jewish observance, the Camp welcomes all campers and staff regardless of their religious affiliation.
BB Camp is located on Town Island, on Lake of the Woods, Kenora, Ontario - approximately, 200km (120 miles) east of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
BB Camp provides a compliment of staff of caring camp counselors, program specialists, supervisors and support staff for both the resident and day camp programs. Staff are selected on the basis of experience and motivation, as well as their skills in supervision, leadership, and positive role-modeling.
Our program specialists in Waterfront Activities, Ropes Course, Sports, Creative Arts, Arts and Crafts, Nature, Tripping, and Jewish Enrichment enrich our camp program as they share their knowledge and enthusiasm with campers. Staff leading our extended canoe trips have considerable experience in the outdoors and focus their attention in creating opportunities to excite and inspire campers in a wilderness setting.
Our Section Heads supervise counselors and assist counselors in providing campers with the wide spectrum of experiences that make a well-rounded program.
Our support team comprised of both Kitchen and Maintenance staff ensure that the Camp's facility is managed well and remains a safe and secure environment.
Annually, all staff participate in an intensive pre-camp training orientation to ensure that all policies and procedures are reviewed and understood.
Many of our staff have been long term BB Campers. The Camp employs up to 110 seasonal staff annually and employment opportunities begin at 17 years of age. The Camp has clear expectation of the required qualifications and certifications BB Camp staff must possess to secure employment. Our primary focus is to ensure we offer a safe, supportive and fun environment for our campers.
